It was a bright and cheerful afternoon,

The willow leaves that glanced in the light breeze,

杨熙龄译本夏（天）与冬（天）一个晴朗、爽快的下午，阳光灿烂，快到六月末；北风从地平线上把银色的云朵赶拢，成堆成团，象浮动的山峰；

山峰背后光洁的天空，越显得杳远，越显得无穷。阳光下，一切都在欢笑：河流、玉米田、芦苇和野草；还有柳叶在轻风中眨着眼睛，一棵棵的大树投下浓密的绿荫。

冬天来了，鸟儿冻死在林莽深处，鱼儿在透明的冰块下也结了冰，　甚至温暖的湖水也结了冰，　湖泥冻结，露出干瘪的皱纹，坚硬得就象一块块的砖头；

享福的人们，拉着小儿女的手，围坐在熊熊的炉火旁还感到冷；唉，那些无家可归的年老乞丐怎么行！
